So far so good on Heart's Chalice. I'm up to Chapter Four now (still tweaking it, hope to get Chapter Five going tonight). My new chapters 1-4 are better than my previous chapters 1-4, so that's progress. :)
Had a nice hike yesterday, and managed to get a few pictures before a surprise thunderstorm hit. Pop-up thunderstorms are part of summertime weather in the mountains.

Thunderstorms are more likely on some days than on others, of course, but during summertime, there's a small chance of storms pretty much every day. And no way am I forgoing hiking until fall comes.
Mountain thunderstorms are scary and exciting at the same time. I've been in two now. The best thing to do is find a bank (plenty of those on the mountain), hunker down against it, and ride out the storm.

I love thunderstorms. How exciting to be caught in one.
Good for you for all the work you've done.
Love your pictures. The moss covering the downed tree in the last one makes it look like an alligator asking for a belly rub.
Hi, Leah! Thanks bunches, and I'm grinning from ear to ear at "alligator asking for a belly rub!" I love how you see things. That's exactly what that downed tree looks like to me now, too! :)
I love that mossy log, too!
Down here on the Gulf Coast we get pop-ups too, mostly in August. They're just showers though, not usually thunderstorms. :-)
Yeah, pop-up showers -- we get those, too. There was one recent hike that was downright schizoid: first sun, then rain, then sun, then rain, then sun then rain, then sun again, all in the space of one hike! :)
Leah nailed it with the 'alligator' comment. Amazing image!!
Hey - glad your rewrite is going well. Nothing like getting those words down to motivate you to keep on going.
As for thunderstorms, we're having one right this minute. The rumbles are rolling across the sky every few minutes and every now and again, my dark office is lit by flashes of lightening. LOVE IT!
Thanks so much, Wylie! :)
Today wasn't a hiking day, but we had more stormy weather here. The power of thunderstorms is truly something to behold! Sounds like a good one in your neck of the woods, too. :)
The thunderstorms in the Northeast have been crazy. Every afternoon for weeks now, after a sunny morning. Sudden, as intense as anything I've seen out west, very scary, people getting struck by lightening. I have never seen this kind of weather period, much less in July. "Global warming," my son says, and I'm certain he's right. The weather is not just warming, it's becoming extremely unpredictable.
Hi, WR! Yes, I agree with your son. The weather is getting weird all over. And here in East Tennessee, it's changed so much from the time I was a kid. We hardly get significant snow at all now, though we used to get enough to close school for days at a time, in stretches throughout January, February, and sometimes March. It hardly gets cold in winter anymore, except for just a few days here and there, here and there, and temps in January used to dip down in the single digits and teens regularly when I was growing up.
And yes, as you said about your summer weather, ours is increasingly changeable and unpredictable.
I love thunderstorms and a mountain thunderstorm sounds thrilling. As long as I was in a cave or something.
Your pictures are lovely, refreshing, soothing. Thanks for sharing.
I'm glad you're happy with your new chapters.
I adopted a fat cat Monday. Ceramic. I wish it could have been the real furry kind, but this guy stole my heart. I posted about him.

Oh those pics are just wonderful! I could sit here and stare at them for a long time. Very soothing. I don't like thunderstorms much because they remind me of my dead Chihuahua and how scared he was of them. But I love the rain. :)
Hi, Dorothy! Yeah, thunderstorms are cool! :) It's both exciting and scary to be caught in one. We don't hike on days they're forecast, but even on days they aren't likely, they still like to pop up from time to time. I'm glad you like the pictures! :) And I'm gonna go over and meet your new ceramic kitty! He sounds cute. Lots and lots of hugs, my dear BFSCCP/KS!
Hi, Tempest! Thanks so much. :) I'm sorry about your Chihuahua! Our kitties don't much like thunderstorms, either. Well, except for Marilyn, our white kitty -- she doesn't pay much attention to them because she's partially deaf!
