Here are pictures from Wednesday's hike, wherein we combined two challenging trails into one humongous butt-busting trail that wended its way high up the mountain before looping down again.
This picture will give you an idea of the steepness of the trail:
As it wound its way up the mountain, the giant trail was comprised of hill after hill after hill. Just as soon as we made our way up one hill, there was another one looming in front of us.
Here's a lovely picture I got once we'd navigated quite a few hills:
After hoofin' it and hoofin' it -- and plenty of sweat -- we made it to here:
Here's a view, looking down the side of the mountain:
Wow, check out what we just climbed!
*whew*, thank goodness for my sweat band. Getting closer to the top of the mountain...
...so we stopped for a rest. I sprawled in the leaves, on my back, and took pictures of the blue sky and the tall branches of the trees playing in the wind (this picture's for you, Susan!):
Got a nice picture of the moon, too!
Check out the hollowed-out tree. *knock, knock* -- anybody home? This picture is for Dorothy!
As Spring draws ever-nearer, growth becomes more dense.
Higher up the mountain, we found a fascinating rock formation, out of the top of which grows a tree!
And here's the pinnacle of our hike -- the highest point we reached before the first trail intersects with the second, at which point we started winding our way gradually down the mountain.
Just call me the Happy Hiker. And because of our hikes, I'm a more centered, creative, and peace-filled writer. Speaking of writing: check out the little green notebook in the pouch on my backpack strap -- yup, I take notes for my novel-in-progress when I hike.

I like your notebook! I take one with me just about everywhere, too. And I put it on the nightstand when I go to bed, just in case!
Hee, Bunnygirl! Something I neglected to mention, in my post, about the notebook I take on my hikes -- it's waterproof (I hike, rain or shine)! :-D
The one on my nightstand, however, isn't waterproof... but I guess I don't need to worry, unless the ceiling starts leaking... ;)
Nope, no notebooks for me. I just store it all up inside and let it tumble out in a mess when I get home. That's what revisions are for.
And don't you see marvelous things when you lay on your back and stare up at the tops of the trees? Isn't it wonderful to do?
Lots more to say, but I'll shut up now... I SO want to be there with you.
Thanks for the lovely photos. All I have are shots of the snow in my back yard. Love the notebook and the big smile. Use that photo on the back cover because it's great. Now, back to Sveating mit Sven! Louisa
Hi, Susan! LOL @ tumbling out -- I've had to do that, too, when I've been driving and been struck by multiple ideas... then when I get home, I'm furiously typing my ideas into my computer. My notebooks aren't for actual book verbiage as they are a means to scratch down cool ideas when they occur to me, and I get some of my best ideas when I'm hiking, driving, getting ready to drift off to sleep, or taking a shower! And oh yes, it's such a joy to lay down and stare at the tops of trees -- so relaxing. I wish you were with me, too! You'd love it. :)
Hi, ltl! I hope spring comes for you soon! We've had some beautiful days but we will have another cold front pushing through, though it won't be as cold as the last cold front. Spring is definitely on its way! Thanks for your kind words about my photo. :) And good luck sweating with Sven!
LOL notes on your writing. Too funny, I wish I COULD do that at the gym (since I am inundated with snow *sigh*) but I do weight training and I can't write though in my mind there are tons of ideas flowing.
Hee, I know where you're coming from, Amy! I don't go to a gym, but hubby and I have a weight bench where we do some simple weight training exercises, and when my mind is running fast and furious with ideas, I have to run in and type on my laptop between exercise reps!! :)
I hope your snow melts soon!
Wow thank you for sharing the pictures with us... I worked up a sweat looking at them. :-)
Well, my book is in the hands of the publisher now... Oh how long the waiting game will be, who knows not me...
Best wishes to you and your family.
Annie
Another Thomma Lyn picture! I love those. And that photo of the rock outcropping is my favorite. Really love it.
Why are these hikes butt busters? Aren't they just as easily knee-busters, thigh-busters and heart-busters...?
Before you head out for your next hike - tag! You're it!
Hi, Annie! I'm so excited for you, re: your book -- please know I'm keeping all my appendages crossed for you that you have an answer soon and that the answer is "YES!" Big hugs to you!
And hee, Julia -- you're right; the big hikes bust just about every body part there is to bust! :) But it's sooo much fun. And a tag -- cool! I'll check it out!
As always, beautiful pics, Thomma Lyn.
Thanks so much, Michael! :) Glad you enjoyed.
Look at those beautiful dimples :)
Awwww, Kimmi! *grin* Thanks. :) Sending hugs to you -- and my kitties send purrs.
