Hubby and I discovered a brand new trail yesterday, and it's just as pretty as Cedar Gulch -- and because of the additional ground cedar we found, we could call the new trail Cedar Gulch II!
Here's a picture of the beginning of the new trail. It's plenty steep as we continue on, but not nearly so muddy as our other challenging trail.
It was a beautiful day yesterday, plenty of blue sky, as seen through the branches of tall trees.
As spring gets closer, the woods are getting greener...
...and greener...
...and greener!
We found some beautiful little waterfalls.
Here's one up close:
Here's a picture of the new trail, as seen once it levels out -- this is quite a ways up the mountain!
How could I fail to be inspired creatively, spending time in a place like this?
Here's a picture of the mountains and surrounding area:
And here's me, walking stick in hand, on the road back home after another wonderful hike.

Oh, now I like your hiking pose. I'm so glad you're getting out. The best exercise in the world is hiking.
I adore all the pictures on the new trail. Yep, things are getting greener.
I just emailed you that I was having trouble with the email program on my laptop, but I see I didn't miss the woodland pictures. What a beautiful sight. Refreshing even from three thousand miles away.
Hugs...KS
I love visiting your blog. The pictures always make me smile. These especially were welcome as I felt myself relax as I peered into your world.
thanks!!
Hi, Dorothy! ACK -- I'm so sorry to hear you're having email problems! But I'm glad you're okay on the internet otherwise. :) I hope your email problems get straightened out soon. I miss our talks, and I hope you're doing well, dear BFSCCP/ks! :) You go on every hike with me, in my mind and in my heart. Have you thought about getting a gmail account? It's a good backup for when home emails are wonky. :) Big hugs, and purrs from the Ballicai!
Hi, Kim! Thank you so much -- I'm so glad you enjoy the pictures! And oh, there's nothing more relaxing than being out in nature, huffing and puffing up steep trails and all! :)
Well, look at you all kitted out! You look like you're having a blast!
HEE! I love it, "kitted out." Yup, hubby and I definitely lug the gear -- he carries a 35 pound backpack, and I carry a 25 pound backpack. We bring water, food, supplies to make a fire if needed, extra canteens, odds and ends, and I often bring my digital camera -- and always my Little Writer's Notebook in case book notes take it upon themselves to pop into my hiking head! :)
Yeah, it's a blast -- I look forward to each and every hike. I crave it like chocolate! :)
It's been some time since I visited your blog. The photos you've posted of your new trail are breath-taking. I also like the photo of you and your big smile! Sounds like things are going well in your writing world. I'm still knee-deep in boxes and work. Thinking of you, XINE
Hi, XINE! I'm sure things have been very busy for you -- what a joy to see you! I hope you're enjoying your new digs. Moving is such hard work, but once you get to the point where you're settling in, slowly but surely, it's nice. :)
Thank you so much for your kind words! Our hikes in the mountains are a tremendous boon to my creativity -- they are good for hubby and me on every conceivable level. :)
Big hugs to you, dear friend!
Oh, this makes me want to hit the Appalachian Trail, or at least Rock State Park. You look like you're having so much fun!
Hi, Michael! :) Yes, we're having a wonderful time.
And the Appalachian Trail is close by -- though it's on one of the other mountains from the one we hike, it's about three miles away, as the crow flies.
I need that green right about now... woke up to more snow. So what if it's mostly melted, things can't green up around here if the snow lingers.
On a happy note, the birds are singing.
Hi, Susan! I'm glad the birds are singing, and I'm sure warm weather isn't far away. We had some snow recently, too -- and now things are warming up right nicely!
I'm POOPED -- had a huge hike today, four hours, combined two challenging trails into one! ***whew***! Pictures to come! :)
Awesome pictures. I'm so jealous of the beautiful scenery you have for your hikes--so glad you take full advantage of them. Too many people just see whatever trees are visible from their car windows instead of getting out there and experiencing nature.
Sounds like some challenging hikes you've found--you must be in great shape!
Thanks, Crabby! We're lucky to have these beautiful mountains so very close to home. :)
And I think all things considered I'm in the best shape I've ever been. I used to do a lot of running, years ago, and I was in good shape then, but now I've got both the cardio and the strength thing going. And boy am I ever strong! I surprise myself sometimes. :)
