My dear friend Dorothy kindly corrected me in my assumption that these are ferns:
They're not! They're ground cedar. *grin* I love learning new things! So Fern Gully has been renamed Cedar Gulch, hehe.

Whatever. I still want to go lay in them and stare at the tops of the trees for a day or two.
*giggle*! :) Tomorrow's gonna be yucky and we've got other plans for Sunday, but Monday's our next hiking day, and I think I'm gonna do just that... lay back in that ground cedar, have my notebook at hand in case neat-o ideas for my book dance in my head, and watch the tippy top tree branches do their wind dances. :)
Hi Thomma Lyn, I just had to stop editing and writing to drop by my dear online friends and say hello.
But to you its a hello and a fresh cup of tea too.
Ground cedar, how interesting... Cedar here are huge trees.
Best wishes and lots of hugs
Annie
Hi, Annie! We've got big cedars, too -- nature is endlessly fascinating, isn't it? :) Thank you for the tea, my sweet friend, and I hope your writing is going wonderfully well! Great big hugs to you. :)
Hi Thomma lyn, just dropped back to say I'm in the last stages of my editing and hope to have the MSS in the post by next Wednesday. I'm feeling very nervous but excited too.
Hope all is going well with your writing too.
Best wishes,
Annie
Oh wow -- next Wednesday! I'm thrilled for you, Annie, and I wish you the very best of luck! :)
Things are going very well for me, writing-wise -- I'm rough-drafting a new novel and the story is flowing fabulously. And I've got two in the rafters, so to speak, to revise -- one that's in the latter stages of revision and which I will revisit after completing my current rough draft. :)
Then it'll be *gulp* submission time! (EEK!) :)
More hugs, my friend!
I learned something new, too - thanks, Dorothy! I had a look at your hiking photos through the renamed Cedar Gulch - SO beautiful.
Thanks so much, Julia! It's such a lovely, refreshing, magical place. I not only love spending time there; I crave it. :)
Even more evocative.
Looks like I arrived back just in the nick of time - all ready to cheer you on through another round of Seventy Days of Sweat!
Have no doubt that you will succeed. You have a way with words that shines through in your blog. And when you do, and the publisher casually asks "do you have any other stories?" you're going to be able to lug out your suitcase full of manuscripts and say "sure do"!
Hi, Gloria! Discovered a new trail today, and yup, there was more ground cedar. Just beautiful and I took more pictures! Took notes for my novel-in-progress along the way, too. :)
Hi, Dawn! It's wonderful to see you back on the Blogosphere -- wow, have I missed you! :) Thank you so much for your kind words -- you made me grin from ear to ear. As time has gone on, I've become more and more confident and determined, and it sure doesn't hurt that I'm experiencing a delightful -- and productive -- surge in creativity. :)
