Meme of Four

My sweet friend, Sophisticated Writer tagged me. To play, answer the questions then add your own question at the end.

Four jobs I've had in my life:

Database manager for a group of biotechnology scientists (as a college student)

Legal secretary (for a brief time after college graduation)

Transcript analyst at a university (for almost fourteen years)

Full-time writer (now)

Four places I'd rather be right now:

On a mountaintop in Wyoming

In Novosibirsk, Siberia (it's really dang hot in East TN today)

In a time machine, checking out all kinds of interesting events and places, both past and future

In a starship exploring strange new worlds and seeking out new life and new civilizations (yeah, I secretly want to be Jean-Luc Picard from Star Trek: TNG)

Four foods I like to eat:

Dark chocolate

Shrimp

Extra-sharp cheddar cheese

Broccoli with seasoned salt

Four personal heroes, past and present:

Charlotte Bronte

Carl Sagan

Hypatia of Alexandria

This wonderful woman who cares for and rescues feral cats

Four books you've just read or are currently reading:

Middlesex ~ Jeffrey Eugenides

The Road ~ Cormac McCarthy

Lisey's Story ~ Stephen King

The Return ~ Bentley Little

Four words or phrases you would like to see used more often:

Thank you

You're welcome

Excuse me

I'm sorry

Four singers/musicians/bands that you like:

Led Zeppelin

Tori Amos

Kate Bush

Pink Floyd

Four people who have changed your life:

My beloved husband

My grandmother

My sis-friendgirl

My online writing and blogging friends

Movies you have seen recently:

300

Breach

The Good Shepherd

Blood Diamond

And I'll tag anybody who wants to play! Thanks for the tag, Sophisticated -- that was fun.

In other news, Seventy Days of Sweat is continuing to go well. I'm heading into the home stretch for my WIP, House on Bear Branch -- well, at least the home stretch for the rough draft. Inner Editor will have a lot of work to do on this one when I hand it over to her.

I took a day off for Labor Day, but for today's o'dark thirty writing session, I made up for it by writing 3,440 words (and to boot, I experienced a revelatory insight which led to a surprising plot twist -- YIPPEE!).

You are just going so darn well with the Seventy Days of Sweat. I've bombed out of all my good intentions! But I'm still running beside you - well, hobbling actually, back is still not right! Go Thomma Lyn. You're into the home straight!

Hee hee! Thanks so much, Dawn -- my inner editor will have her work cut out for her, for sure, when I hand this WIP over to her, but she enjoys that sort of thing -- and it'll feel so good to have completed a new rough draft!

I'm interested to hear your opinion of Middlesex.
And hey - I watched 300 last night! Cool movie... We got a new LCD flat screen HD tv so we christened it with 300.
Ah... Mr. butlers abs TDF (to die for)

Thomma Lyn said...

hehe, Wylie, yeah TDF! Hubby and I enjoyed 300. And cool about the new TV!

And though I'm not very far into Middlesex yet, I'm loving it! Absolutely fascinating characters -- both funny and touching, and lest I forget, the story is already shaping up to be thought-provoking as all get-out!

Thanks for doing it, Thomma. I really enjoyed your answers :) Hey, let's do a themed T13 tomorrow. Email me what you think. Still working on my synopsis from hell. Ugh.

You are smoking girl!! And I loved 300...oh how I loved my boy Gerry.

*drool*

Hi, Sophisticated! Doing a themed T13 sounds like fun -- I just now sent you an email! :)

And hee hee, Christine -- yeah, that's quite a drool-worthy movie, isn't it? :)

Not surprising, dark chocolate, shrimp, extra sharp cheddar... and I want to be on that Star Ship Enterprise with the whole crew! I've had crush on Jean-Luc Picard since...forever.

I'm so happy that you're nearing the finish line! Great going!
Hugs...D

Hi, Dorothy! Oh my goodness, what a hoot. Are you sure we aren't twins separated at birth? :-DD

I love everything Trek, but my favorite Trek is TNG. Hee hee, Jean-Luc, you can beam Dorothy and me up any time now -- we're ready to boldly go where nobody has gone before!

Thanks so much, my friend, and big hugs to you -- it feels good to be so close to completing this brand new rough draft!

Hi Thomma Lyn, I hope you're ready for a refreshing cup of tea now. I've got the kettle on and a moment to stay and chat. You're doing very well with your writing challenge, keep it up.

I've been getting some great reviews for my novel so I'm going to start rewriting it. I'm needing to keep my mind focus on one thing at a time from now on instead of my mad jumping around trying to do everything at once.

Best wishes as always my dear friend

Annie

Hi, Annie! Thank you so much for the tea. Yummy as always! :) I'm heading into the home stretch for my rough draft, and that tickles me to no end!

And wow, how exciting about the great reviews for your novel -- I'm not surprised, though; the chapters I read were excellent. And I hear you on staying focused -- that's always a challenge, especially when day-to-day life gets wild and crazy or difficult.

Hugs to you, and I so appreciate your encouragement and friendship!
