BEST TT EVER! I love cats, and I love books. And if you know French, Colette's cats' names are hilarious!

I love cats and I seem to be in very good company! Great list, interesting. Dew is right, Colette's cats have funny names!
My TT lists 13 favourite detectives (books).

I may be ambivalent about Hemingway as a writer, but he was a great fur person. If you visit his home in Key West, you're in for a treat. All museums should have litter boxes all about and a kitten lounging in the typewriter that wrote Farewell to Arms.

Didn't TS Elliot write the poem that the musical Cats was based on? I forget the title.

I love TS Eliot's cats' names! They're so fun and very practical :p Fun list!

Lord Byron named his cat Beppo, that's all he could come up with? I'm shocked!!!!! ;)

Happy TT my friend to the south!!!

Soon we'll add Thomma Lyn to the list of famous writers who liked cats and we'll say she had a cat named Chairman Mao. Much better than Beppo.

Happy TT, darling! Thanks for dropping by, as always. Hope you'll come back for another chocolate outtake this weekend.

Ah... writers and their cats.
Why did Hugo rename Gavroche? Was it before or after Les Mis??

Great post TL!

I've got your TT for next week. Just as someone else did this week, why don't you list next week the names of books for each of these writers. Great list!

What a great combination: cats and books. We have both in our household.

Allister our big orange tabby rules the roost . . . am I mixing metaphors? Yes, I think I am.

Thanks for stopping by - much appreciate our daily! exchange - hugs, XINE

Now, with all the authors who have websites, it's so much easier to find the ailurophiles :D

I have one cat right now and his name is Gus.

Hope you are having a smile shining day.

What a crach up that in amongst all these amazing names Winston Churchill's cat was called Bob! My torty girls are Gertie and Gracie! Great TT!

I'm not a cat person which seems to explain why other peoples cats like me. Just cats proving their contrary nature.

I picked up The Killers on DVD last week and I'd forgotten it was based on an Ernest Hemingway short story.

Emma Wayne Porter said...

Twenty says every single one of those cats would stick their paws in the writer's drink to get their attention.

I swear every writer I know has a cat that does it =)

I didn't know the Victor Hugo one! Cool. Cats & books, 2 of my 3 favorite things.

I have the same template as you, too :)

Well...I'm in good company then! :-) Happy TT!

WOW! Those are some inventive names. My dh named his cats Spunky and Smokey. We now have one named Sophie. Guess we like "S" names.

Great list! However did you find all that info? Can you imagane calling, "Here Hurleyburleybuss! Come here kitty. Come on Hurleyburleybuss!" about a gadjillion times? And then, of course, being ignored.

Lori said...

Let me guess...you must be a cat lover;)

Barbara said...

Nice list. Would not have thought about this one.

Check out my TT.

Seems all great writers have cats, Thomma.

OK then... *Note to self*: Get a cat if you want to be looked at as a real writer.

I love their names too :)
